Knowledge, attitude and practices of parents of thalassemic children undergoing treatment at thalassemia day care centre of pediatrics department, Govt. Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala

To explore the knowledge of parents thalassemic children, their attitude towards prevention birth children and practices followed by them in relation to treatment adherence. : Parents 100 patients Thalassemia, who were coming regularly for blood transfusion Thalassemia day care centre at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala from January 2011 Nov 2012, interviewed regarding about inheritance types prenatal diagnosis, various options available on a predesigned questionnaire. The variables compared Chi square test results so obtained analyzed using SPSS version 15 statistically. Knowledge importance Ferritin levels, role chelation therapy Bone marrow transplantation age sex patients, socioeconomic status was found statistically significant. Relation between adherence, disease stastically effect growth, behavior studies not A significant correlation has been disease, diagnosis with adherence future pregnancies.
